I wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed working on this project with you. Everyone loves this worksheet. Our pricing has never been so standardized Julie Hui, Chief Financial Officer of Pumpman Inc

When we first launched Excel4Business.com in 2008, the aim was to run a basic website to attract Excel consulting work. Originally we got traffic exclusively by advertising on Google Adwords. If you found the site, you had probably searched for an "Excel programmer" and, as long as we looked competent, you would request a quote.

The original logo was based on a simple text motif and color scheme. Any special effects were applied by our web development team. It was utilitarian and did not commit the website to any sort of future direction.

Two years later, the site was re-designed to look a little more modern and the site moved away from its original blue and yellow design. It was soon after this site re-design that it became apparent the brand itself needed an overhaul.

As Excel has 400 million users, we needed a new logo that would appeal equally to business owners and employees. The priority was to find something that would put across the fact we weren't just developers, but were also able to consider the environment in which a spreadsheet would reside. It is at this point that a small business would normally look to employ a graphic designer.

99 Designs

If you are currently searching for an Excel consultant, you will be familiar with the issues surrounding business to business services. If you go out and employ a graphic designer to make you a new logo, it will cost a lot of money and you may not be happy with the final result. Unlike spreadsheets which are generally objective, logos are particularly subjective which exacerbates the problem.

In an ideal world, you would be able to get several logos from several different designers. 99Designs lets you do just that. As long as you provide a clear brief, you can get over 100 logo designs for just $500.

You can see all the entries for our logo contest here. With so many different designs, it can be very difficult to pick a winner on your own. 99Designs allows you to select up to 8 designs on which you can gather feedback from friends and associates.

It was very obvious from the feedback we received that our chosen logo had almost universal appeal whereas some of the other top rated designs would alienate half our potential clients.
